LARCH PARK, EDMONTON, STORM WATER MANAGEMENT FACILITY
This is the first native ecosystem Storm Water Management Facility in Edmonton development, and as such, it has been monitored to test and evaluate natural plant community establishment. Clark Ecoscience lead the collaboration with project developers Melcor, and Arctos & Bird, the project oversight firm IBI Group, and professors at the University of Alberta (Departments of Biology and Renewable Resources).
The Larch Park project began in 2010, CES began by assessing the sites environmental conditions, then went on to designing a native ecosystem. CES created Larch Park from the ground up, from rebuilding soil profiles, to installation of native species, and finally the care, maintenance, and continuous monitoring of the site. Since then Larch Park has become a well established native ecosystem, with a variety of local wildlife.
